Natural Cattle

The cattle herd at Rocky Ridge Ranch consists of a mixed breed cow-calf operation.  We use registered Black Angus Bulls.  Consequently, most cows and calves are black.  The calves are raised without growth hormones or antibiotics and are never fed animal byproducts.  All of the cattle are raised and maintained on a vegetarian diet of grass or hay.  The calves are born in August and September and are weaned June 1st.  They are then backgrounded on green grass until August 1st when they weigh approximately 800 pounds.

The calves are sold in May and shipped in August to a finishing facility.  They leave the ranch with a certification of being raised as Preconditioned Natural Cattle.
